The Akridge Sunday School Class

Well our household has been very sick and very crazy the past 2 weeks and I have fallen very far behind on the blog. If you have any prayer request that you would like added, please email me at benzaiaphoto@gmail.com and I will get them on there asap.

As for updates...Reminder there is no Sunday School Class this weekend and there is only 1 service at 10:30 in the Sanctuary. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and I can't wait to hear about everyone's holiday

Good Evening, here are the prayer request, please be sure to read all the way down because there are a lot of announcements.

Prayer Request: 
~ Jerry's Uncle Charles Dollar, was diagnosed with cancer in his lungs & possibly brain. The Dr.'s gave him 6 months. Please pray for our family & for Charles to be comfortable, he has chosen to not get any treatment.
~ Brenda Webster has been diagnosed with cancer near her pancreas. At this point, removal of the cancer near her pancreas. At this point, removal of the cancer does not appear possible. This is Kevin Smith's mother.
~ Kimberly: Dale's knees (both of them) pain and difficulty walking all of a sudden.
~ Dale: Praise Kimberly has passed her test! She has another one on December 1st. Thanks for all the prayers so far
~ Becky Floyd: Silent Prayer
~ For all of those who still have no power in NJ & NY and other affected areas.
~ Kenya: Praise She got a job at the USPS. Praise God.
~ Vesla: Pray for Chad. He had a desk audit and will hopefully be getting a raise and upgrade to GS12. Also, he has a lot of stress in prepping for a major base inspection.
~ Heidi: we will be traveling next week to FL for the holidays for a week. Safe travels and praise my grandmother is doing better, she is breathing better and eating more.

Reminders: 
~ Sunday, November 18th is the Potluck Sunday Social. Everyone please bring a breakfast potluck item. If you signed up for drinks you do not have to bring any food.

~ Friday, December 7th is the Christmas Party at the Andrews house. Please be sure to register your kids for the Parents Night Out. These spots fill up really fast. Go to www.fbctrussville.org to reserve your spot. The deadline to register is November 24th.

~ If you were unable to give to the Thanksgiving Basket offering in Sunday School class and you would still like to you can bring it on Sunday. Cash or check is fine, if you write a check just make it out to FBCT and put Thanksgiving Baskets in the memo.

Here are yesterday's prayer request. I am so sorry I am so behind.

The Andrews - Jerry's aunt had a scare thinking she was having a stroke, but it was just a bad flare up of rheumatoid arthritis. Please pray for her to find an appropriate doctor and for the doctor to be able to manage the pain.

Heidi - her grandmother Hazle is having testing done to rule out cancer.

Brenda -PTL - her mother's test came back clear.

Remember, the Akridge Fall Hayride is October 21st. We hope to see you all there.

We had a wonderful lesson yesterday as we ventured through The Gospel Project. Here are the prayer request:

     ~ Heidi - Teygen is very sick. He has a lot of fluid in his chest and he is having trouble breathing.
     ~ Kimberly - Praise! Her stepsister had her baby boy. Mom and baby are both healthy. She asks for prayer as Dale and Kimberly need to make decisions about their oldest son.

Also, remember the Akridge Hay Ride will be October 21st at 3:30. Directions will follow along with a food/drink sign up.

Also, since the Floyd household was sick yesterday, Brenda went ahead and did a food sign up. Here is what we have but we have a few empty spots.

For those of you that are new to the class and you are unsure what the Hayride is. Here is a little sneak peak and also a little bit about it. Bring your favorite chair, blankets and toys and hang out with us while we roast hot dogs and ride on the hayride through the horse fields. Sometimes a little horse even gives us a visit. This is a great time to fellowship so please join us on October 21st at 3:30 at the Akridge Farm! We can't wait to see you.

I am going to continue enticing you to come by showing fun pictures from last year!

Today was a wonderful day as we welcomed 2 new members, Michelle & Jamey Ramsey. Michelle and Jamey have a 2 1/2 year old daughter Ella Kate and a new baby girl, Olivia. Please join me in welcoming them to class.

1. Kimberly Mauldin's step sister Heather Barber has been put on bed rest due to pregnancy complications.
2. Kimberly is helping with a new teen program for 7th and 8th grade girls and it will be starting soon. This program is called Rubies (Kimberly why don't you send us more information so we can let everyone know what this is)
3. Kimberly also needs prayers as she is trying to get her certificate in Teaching/Counseling.

Please let me know if you ever need anything added. I know the book went around pretty early today.

--Christy C.-going through a divorce.  Please pray for son Alex.  He is going to a new school this year and it is a lot of change for him.  We are living with my sister-in-law.

--Tony & Kenya A.--just everyday life, pray for our strength in the Lord.

--Scott T.--grandmother has 100%, and 80% blockages and needs a valve replacement, but surgery would complicate her dementia tremendously so they have opted to try and treat with other meds.  It is not a good situation.

--Please pray for the effects that Hurricane Isaac may have.

We had quite a crowd, 59 with 11 of those being visitors. We even ran out of chairs & had to go out of the room to get more!!!!!  And with that kind of attendance we are excited to announce that our team "Matthew", won the Steak-off.  Way to go!  Is anybody hungry for steak?

-Mission Opportunity--August 18-Saturday, 8am or when you can arrive at Chalkville Elementary for a yard work day.   If you have some, bring your own equipment like gloves, shovels, rakes, etc. There will also be equipment on site to use so you can just show up!

Ashley F.-friend from high school, Ashley H.  was in a severe car accident Wednesday morning.  She was 19 weeks pregnant.  She gave birth Sat. morning to George Thomas H. who has already passed away.  Pray for comfort and peace.

Christy C.-mother is having test done on Aug. 8th for a swollen lymph node.

Heather S.-my best friend is going through a divorce and has three girls and no job right now.  She is trying to find work but its hard.  I took groceries to her Friday.

Sunday, July 29 will be our Sunday Social at 9:15am.  Everyone bring a potluck breakfast to Sunday School for a time of fellowship after a brief devotion.

August 17th- Friday-- Class Social--Mystery Dinner.  We will each sign up for our top 3 restaurant choices then get grouped with others to go out to eat.  It will be a mystery who we go out with until we arrive at the restaurant.  After dinner, we will all meet back at the church for a time of dessert.

--Cody's ears were clear-praise!  Cooper still fighting ear infection and will need tubes.
--Julie--co-worker taking care of her two g'kids, mom left 5 weeks ago and has not seen them but 2 times for 1 hour.

Chad Lochte--I have a friend at work Greg, that is undergoing back surgery that is very important to be successful.

Vesla--Sister Heidi being induced on Friday.  Pray for smooth delivery with no complications, as well as, for the doctor's and nurses that will be caring for her and her son.

Starting next Sunday, July 15th, all Adult SS classes will having an attendance contest for a Steak Dinner!  Points will be awarded for members in attendance, first time visitors and new members.  Winning team will get a steak dinner on August 29th, with service and desserts served by the losing teams.  Let's win this one folks!  We had 42 in class last week, let's make it happen again!

Girls' Night Out--We are starting a monthly second Thursday of the month girls' night beginning May 10th at Moe's at 6:30pm.  We'll meet once a month at a different place just to let our hair down and relax and chat together.  Just whoever can come...no need to feel bad if you already have plans because you can always look forward to making it the next month!  Hope to see you there!

Ministry Project--We are on a mission to help some in need by putting together personal hygiene kits ---Some time in June we will have a Mexican themed afternoon or evening of fun to get together and assemble the kits!

Jennifer & Angela's dad-pray for upcoming surgery to replace his aortic valve.  Pray for peace, and for his doctors & nurses at Trinity.

Max's mother-failed her stress test this week.  Going for further testing.  Pray that the doctors can figure out what is going on.  Barbara is primary care giver to his dad.

Christy-friend- Tracy, her son matthew is having a lot of stomach problems.  He's having tests done at Children's on May 9th.  also 2 unspoken requests.
